Maison Margiela is an innovative French fashion brand founded in 1988 by Belgian designer Martin Margiela. The 26AW collection, unveiled in Shanghai, is a landmark collection marking the beginning of the Maison's new project, "MaisonMargiela/folders." This season, the brand recreates its early experimental approach of simultaneously offering one-of-a-kind "artisanal" pieces and "ready-to-wear," depicting a world inspired by a Parisian flea market after closing hours. A place where forgotten objects, having fulfilled their purpose, are brought back to life. This scene is beautifully sublimated into "memory-bearing garments," starting with broken tapestries, Edwardian-style clothing, and decaying vintage dresses. "Memory of the Garment," which transfers the traces of garments that have become unwearable over time onto new garments, and the craftsmanship that transforms deterioration itself into beauty by applying delicate sequins to irreparable damage—these are not merely nostalgic for the past, but visualize a process of redefining the beauty of accumulated time in the present.
