NAMESAKƎ × JERSEY・TRACK PANTS
NAMESAKE is a streetwear brand founded in Taiwan in 2020.Co-founded by Richard Hsieh, Michael Hsieh, and Steve Hsieh, the brand focuses on family roots and incorporates cultural elements from Taiwan, Japan, and the United States into its designs. NAMESAKE 's designs are inspired by their love of basketball in the 1990s and the workwear worn by their fathers, who were fishermen, and feature a retro-futuristic style. This creates a striking fusion of sports and street culture.
The AW25 collection, "AFTERNOON," features garments that quietly weave themes of family, memory, and growth. Designer Steve Hsieh reminisced about his relationship with his siblings and parents, as well as the landscapes of his childhood, and saw clothing as a vessel for time that transcends generations. The image of a father and son sharing a moment by a lake symbolically evokes tranquility, trust, and a silent bond. The collection centers on regional textiles from Italy, Japan, Taiwan, and India, and employs materials such as wool, cotton, recycled polyester, and nylon. Harrington check, flannel, and ripple patterns on the water's surface visually evoke the rippling of nature and water, while the overlapping of materials and patterns creates a serene space. Seamless shoulder construction and scarf-like draping are employed as techniques that pursue a harmony between form and softness, making the garments themselves expressions of time. The motif also references archery, the national sport of Bhutan, symbolizing abstractions such as concentration, harmony, and the balance of hitting the target. By interweaving elements of sportswear with tailoring, the brand attempts to create a composition that combines functionality and emotion. "AFTERNOON" is a collection with a quiet narrative. The twilight of a bygone afternoon, the presence of family, the overlapping of generations and memories. This season, NAMESAKE continues to deepen its world of expression, which allows one to feel "time" through fashion and reflect the story of the wearer.
