ARTWORK: Fujin Raijin and Maiko
Takashi Murakami has updated the powerful Fujin and Raijin by Tawaraya Sōtatsu into a cute, mascot-like character with his own unique sensibility. Along with the animated-style maiko depicted in the background, this is an original character that was created as a result of an exhibition in Kyoto.
DETAIL
This garment is reversible. The sleeves feature a dragon drawn by Yuta Hosokawa. The back print uses a dragon newly drawn by Hosokawa himself, based on Takashi Murakami's "Blue Dragon." Modifying Takashi Murakami's work is a special approach that would not normally be possible, and it is an expression unique to this collaboration between the two. Furthermore, Hosokawa selected two skulls from Takashi Murakami's works and expressed them in embroidery. As a finishing touch, vintage processing, a specialty of Yuta Hosokawa, is applied, resulting in a garment with depth, texture, and presence.

ARTWORK: Flowers
Takashi Murakami is a contemporary artist who was the first to create original characters for art in the history of contemporary art. "Flowers" have become the most beloved and well-known characters in the world, both as Murakami's own character and as a character of art. Murakami holds a doctorate in Japanese painting from Tokyo University of the Arts, and flowers are a traditional subject in the world of Japanese art, as seen in the phrase "snow, moon, and flowers." Furthermore, the all-over composition of the screen also contains the essence of abstract expressionism.
