grounds × SHOES

"grounds" was founded in 2019 and is directed by fashion designer Mikio Sakabe. Mr. Sakabe graduated with honors from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, and his approach with his own unique design philosophy focuses on fusing fashion and functionality. In particular, the brand's concept "LEAP GRAVITY" aims to "bring about change in the relationship between humans and gravity", and this philosophy is reflected especially in the design of the outsole of the shoes.

The 25AW collection is a collection that expresses futuristic and challenging designs with the theme of "Uncanny Valley". Tokyo-based brand grounds explores the discomfort and instability in fashion through surreal and unsettling visuals and disparate items. Of particular note is the floating platform sole, which combines a futuristic form with lightweight materials to achieve both visual impact and comfort. In addition, the collection is fused with art direction, music direction, and set design, known for its unique spatial presentation, to invite the audience into a different dimension. The collection, which combines innovative design and artistic elements, suggests new possibilities beyond the boundaries of fashion and offers a sharp perspective on modern society.
