“grounds” was founded in 2019 and is directed by fashion designer Mikiro Sakabe. Mr. Sakabe graduated with honors from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp and has a unique design philosophy. His approach focuses on fusing fashion and functionality. In particular, the brand's concept ``LEAP GRAVITY'' aims to ``bring a change in the relationship between humans and gravity,'' and this philosophy is particularly reflected in the design of the shoe's outsole.

Sakabe provides a new walking experience through shoes and proposes new value to consumers. In addition, we are increasing our presence in the fashion world through collaborations with a variety of artists and brands, and our designs incorporate street fashion and minimalism. In particular, it attracted international attention when it was worn by the K-Pop idol group NewJeans.

Sakabe is striving to build a global brand image while strategically leveraging kawaii culture. In this way, grounds is more than just a footwear brand, it has established itself as a cultural icon.
