"grounds" was founded in 2019 and is directed by fashion designer Mikio Sakabe. Sakabe graduated at the top of his class from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp, and his approach, based on his unique design philosophy, focuses on fusing fashion and functionality. In particular, the brand's concept, "LEAP GRAVITY," aims to "change the relationship between humans and gravity," and this philosophy is reflected especially in the design of the shoe outsoles.

The 26FW collection, "FESTIVITY," expresses a "transformative process" where raw energy calms down and is sublimated into a ritualistic celebration. It draws inspiration from the propulsive force and cold metallic feel of motorbikes, as well as the ritualistic spirit of "Day of the Dead," which positively celebrates death and chaos. The shoes embody a fierce impulse to resist the monotonous daily life that robs us of thought, and a will to push our own boundaries. The contrast between the heavy outsole and the structured upper creates an intense dynamic that shakes up everyday life. Through footwear where stillness and dynamism, destruction and rebirth intersect, the brand presents its evolution and deepening worldview.
